A building where ankara (traditional fabrics) are sold at the popular Balogun market in Lagos Island is engulfed in fire.
According to Premium Times, the cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained but witnesses said that a generator explosion was heard shortly before the fire outbreak.
However, no casualties have been recorded yet, but fire fighters are currently trying to put out the fire.
This is coming hours after one of the biggest markets in Yola, Adamawa state, popularly known as the “Old Market,” was razed by fire.
According to witnesses the fire started at about 7 p.m on Tuesday, January 31, after the market closed and all traders had gone home leaving only the security guards.
