For several hours on February 11, some major roads in Lagos will be closed to regular traffic.
These major roads will be shut down to motorists for about twelve hours because of the Access bank Lagos city marathon.
For about twelve hours, some part of Lagos will be shut down for the safety of thousands of runners.
If you want to avoid getting stranded on this day, here are top 10 roads you should not ply on that day.
1. Third mainland bridge
You should not forget that the third mainland bridge on Saturday, February 11, will be closed from 7.15am to 2pm because of the Lagos city marathon.
2. Alaka road service lane
As early 5:45 am the Alaka road service lane will also be closed. Although it is a partial closed road, it will be closed from 5.45am to 7.30am.
3. National stadium
There is going to be a closed road at the National stadium as the runners begin the race. It will be closed to motorists from 6:45am to 9am.
4. Ojuelegba
Ojuelegba axis will also be completely shut down to motorist for runners’ safety. This route will be blocked from motorists from 6.45am to 9am
5. Dormanlong Bridge
Dormanlong bridge during the Lagos city marathon will not be opened to motorists until 9am.
6. Onipanu
Onipanu and its environs will not be left out from the closed roads during the Access bank Lagos city marathon. Onipanu route will be shut from 6.45am to 9am.
7. Obanikoro
Obanikoro route to Anthony will be closed from 6.45 am to 9am for the kick start of the marathon.
8. Anthony village
Motorists will only have access to ply Antony village route after 9am during the Lagos marathon.
9. Oworosoki
Oworosoki will be closed from 7.15am to 9am on the day of the marathon.
10. Adekunle junction
Adekunle junction that links third mainland bridge will be completely closed for the Access bank Lagos city marathon. The road will be closed from 7.30am to 2pm.
Meanwhile, here is an alternative route for Ikeja residents going Victoria Island (VI). They can go through Ikorodu road while vehicles from Badagry, Mile 2 and its environ going to Victoria Island are advised to go through Apapa and Orile to link Eko Bridge.
Similarly, residents of Lagos mainland, Surulere and its environs should avoid Alhaji Masha road and National stadium areas to link VI through Iponri/Iganmu routes. Vehicles coming from Ibadan, Mowe can link V I through Ojota and Ikorodu road while vehicles from Okota would have to go through Mile 2 to Orile.
And for those in Sango-Otta going to VI are advised to go through Mushin, Funso Williams Avenue (Western Avenue) unto Eko Bridge while those from Epe, Ajah, Lekki and are to use the alternative route to Victoria Island just as Ikoyi residents going to the Mainland are to use Alfred Rewane (Kingsway road) link and Osborne road to the Mainland.
