2 suspected Okada thieves burnt to death in Imo

While the Senate is deliberating on passing a law that would criminalise jungle justice in the country, two young men suspected to be motorcycle thieves were reportedly burnt to death on Monday, November 28, 2016.

According to a Facebook user, Ikechuckwu Daniel, the suspects were set ablaze in Umuguma in the Owerri West Local Government Area of Imo State for allegedly stealing a brand new motorcycle from a commercial motorcyclist .
The incident, according to Daniel, occurred around the ever busy World Bank roundabout, when the two men said to be in their mid-20s, snatched a brand new motorcycle from a commercial motorcyclist.
It was gathered that two suspects were caught by other commercial motorcyclists after the victim raised an alarm and after beating them thoroughly, they were burnt alive before security men could arrive at the scene.
But when will Nigerians learn to allow the security officers do their jobs instead of taking the laws into their hands every time?

Recall that a few weeks ago, there was a case of jungle justice in Lagos where an alleged thief was burnt to death and the case has caused a lot of consternation in the country which has led the national assembly to wade into the matter with the proposed Anti-Jungle Justice Bill being considered.
