Several lives lost, millions of naira burnt to ashes as bullion vans crash in Edo



Several people have been feared dead following a fatal road crash involving two cash loaded bullion vans and a tanker in Abudu, Orhionnwon LGA in Edo, on Thursday, December 8, The Punch reports.

It was gathered that not only were lives lost, millions of naira got burnt after the bullion vans collided with the tanker.

The cash loaded bullion vans went ablaze after colliding with the tanker, a source revealed.

Two commercial buses were also affected in the fatal crash.

However, shortly after the crash, security men were mobilised to the scene to prevent more damages. The road crash also led to heavy traffic.

Reacting to the incident, Haliru Gwandu, the Edo state commissioner of police, Haliru Gwandu, said he only received the report of a ‎fatal accident in Abudu.

He denied any knowledge about two cash loaded bullion vans going up in flames

Gwandu said he only received a report about a fatal accident from DPO in Abudu.

The accident in Edo state comes just days after 13 people lost their lives in a fatal road crash which occurred along the Ilorin/Ogbomoso expressway.

The accident involved a truck and a hummer bus coming from Kaduna state.
