Rivers rerun election: Electoral materials hijacked as Dakuku Peterside raises alarm



The director general of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Dakuku Peterside has raised alarm over alleged hijacking of electoral materials in Rivers state.

Speaking to Vangaurd, Peterside said, the material meant for a ward in Opobo/Nkoro local were hijacked by hoodlums.

Peterside however, said the materials were later recovered by security operatives in the state.

“Opobo/Nkoro is peaceful generally now,” Peterside said.

He also said he observed that some people were imported from outside the local government area to cause mayhem in the area.

“Election for one unit was hijacked by some boys, but the security agencies have recovered it.

That materials have arrived and it is going orderly for now.”
