Fire from petrol tanker destroys several houses in oyo state

A petrol tanker which spilled its content following an accident has led to the destruction of several houses in Oyo State due to the fire resulting from its fall.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the development happened when the tanker driver lost control of the vehicle in the Kinikini area of the state.
This has caused the residents of the community to rue their day due to the massive damages on properties.
Kareem Adegoke, the Caretaker Chairman of Saki West Council lamented about the incident which could have been easily avoided.

He said, “We have done what is expected of us by providing an alternative route so as to avert this kind of ugly occurrence."
"Relevant authorities have been duly informed and I’m sure they will be here soon for an on- the-spot-assessment. For now, we are relocating the affected residents to one of our camps to provide them with necessary shelter for now."

A resident of the community, Akande Adeola said she escaped the incident by a whisker.
Adeola who was asleep at the time of the incident said noises made by neighbours alerted her giving her an opportunity to escape.
“I was already sleeping when I heard people shouting on top of their voices that we should move out."
"People were shouting and so we all moved out before the tanker eventually caught fire", she said.
