Burkina Faso national arrested for slitting woman's throat in Lagos




A female Burkina Faso national, Laday Wendipanga, has been arrested by the Lagos State Police Command for allegedly slitting the throat of one Adepeju Disu while she was asleep.
Punch reports that the incident took place on the premises of Holy Cross Cathedral on Lagos Island.
The suspect, according to the police, also went further to inflict several cuts on the body of the victim, before dragging her corpse to a corner on the premises, where it was discovered by a member of the church.

It was gathered that the gory act was committed while a vigil was ongoing at the church on Friday, November 4, 2016.
The police from the nearby Lion Building Police Division were informed and the evacuated the corpse and later arrested the suspect.
A mechanic who has his shop near the church narrated that the victim and the suspect were mentally ill and usually slept in the church premises.
“Both of them are mentally ill. They were being taken care of by the church. A vigil was going on that day when the incident happened.
I learned that she (Wendipanga) went to where the woman was sleeping on the church premises and slit her throat with a knife.”
Another resident in the area who knew the two said Disu moved to the church after a building she stayed on Lagos Island was demolished.

The Sate Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Dolapo Badmos, has confirmed the incident, saying that the case had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Yaba, for discreet investigation.
