The Nigerian Army has revealed some of its major achievements in the country’s oil-rich region through its Operation Delta Safe. The Army released these achievements on its website on Tuesday, November 15, 2016.

“Troops of sector 1, on a tip-off, discovered some illegal bunkering equipment along Chanomi North bank pipeline, Burutu local government area, Delta state. “Items recovered include one welding machine, two inserted valves, two shovels, two filing machines, two packets of electrolyte, one hose, bolts, nuts of various sizes and a pumping machine” the Army said. Furthermore, the Army revealed that troops, while on patrol, also discovered a camp used by kidnappers and other criminals at Rumuekpe. The camp was destroyed.

Soldiers, during an operation, said they handed over to the Ughelli area command, two suspects, Julius Egorume and Ese Ohoro, arrested earlier in connection with act of vandalism at the Nigeria Petroleum Development Company (NPDC) well head 12 located between Otu Jeremi and Ukpiovwin communities in Ughelli South local government area of Delta state. “The troops while on patrol at Ugbemu Village along Oghara-Benin road in Ethiope West local government area of Delta state, intercepted a tipper with registration number Akwa Ibom XA 240 KTD carrying 200 litres locally constructed tanks filled with product suspected to be illegally refined diesel,” the Army said, adding that three suspects were arrested alongside the tipper and the product.

It said the suspects were undergoing preliminary investigation. In a related development, the Army said a patrol team at Adeje community along Sapele-Warri road in Okpe local government area of Delta state intercepted a Volkswagen car with registration number Anambra AH 615 ATN carrying 27 containers of 25 litre Jerrycans filled with product suspected to be illegally refilled dual purpose kerosine.
